Pipsher Simtustus

How We Got Our Name

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs chose this name to honor Pipsher Simtustus, who served as a scout for the U.S. Army in 1867 and 1868.

How can you get here?

We are 2 hours from the Portland area and easily accessible from all of Central Oregon. Only 10 minutes from the town of Madras. We are 1 hour from Mt. Hood & Bend. Indian Head Casino is less than 10 minutes from the resort.


Lake Simtustus is a reservoir located below Lake Billy Chinook and ultimately fed from the waters of the Deschutes River. Going to and from Lake Simtustus you will have many occasions to view the magnificent Deschutes River.

There are many things to do in this area. Most people stay here and make day trips to Mt. Hood-1 hour away, Sun River-1 hour & 20 mins, & Bend-1 hour. The Round Butte Dam at the upper end of Lake Simtustus separates Lake Billy Chinook from Lake Simtustus. Enjoy beautiful wildlife, high desert vistas, fresh air, peace and quiet.
